Do not give me the BS of I do not support our troops considering I did my time USMC 2001 to 2006. I do not support the invasion into Iraq because last time I checked they did not have anything to do with 9/11. I do support the war I fought in in Afghanistan. I love this country, but I do not support some of its policies.
Trust me, no one except rabid bush supporters say or think that.
It’s a old strategy used to intimidate people. They also say: “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem”. They think that everything is 800% dark or 800% white (no offense). No gray or any other colors. If the problem was that US was invaded, the solution would be finding Osama.
If this is a war against terrorism, where’s Osama, where are ETA terrorists?
Because some conservatives are melodramatic morons prone to over-reacting.
Because the government of Republicans and Democrats has conditioned the American people to become so polarized that it is now common idea that “If you are not 100% with me then you must be 100% against me”.
This division that the politicans have created has made it easier to gather votes and keep the people in their place (which is under the politicians’ boots).
The more they get us to fight each other…the more they can steal and hoarde. To sum it up in one simple idea..politicans have used the “Divide and Conquer” strategy to wrest control of America from the Americans.
Jacob W> The war is over and was won by USA….what we are talking about now is a US Occupation of Iraq, not a war, whatever propaganda the government has fed us.
Wait for them to put their brains together and figure out an answer that half way makes sense.
Some people only think in black and white. With us or against us.
The best of friends.
Saying something like that (because you are opposed to the war means you support terrorism) is just absurd. Personally, I was in favor initially, but not anymore.
Of course, having that viewpoint (that someone who disagrees with you supports terrorism), is no different than the folks who call people who are do support the war mindless, unenlightened idiots.
So I guess it all depends on what side of the fence you are on.
Because the public display of descent from the left gives the enemy someone to show to those they want to recruit. They say look we are winning .America is going to quit , all we have to do is kill enough soldiers or civilians. You might as well strap a bomb on yourselves and take a few with you. What would have happened in WWII if we did not show a untied front? You losers are destroying the morale of our brave soldiers. This is a war we will fight so we might as well fight to win over there.
I was opposed to both invasions, but I can see the logic in criticising those who want a precipitous withdrawl as playing into the hands of Al Qaeda (or ‘radical’ Islam in general) – in effect ’supporting’ them by trying to hand them a ‘victory.’
Because those who support the war find it easier to justify their position if they can claim that those who disagree are the enemy. They would prefer to believe that we, those who disagree with our country, are against it than actually force themselves to listen to what it is we have to say. Much more convenient.
You don’t have to actually agree with their agenda to be supporting them. All that matters is if your actions further their goals.
I don’t believe liberals agree with the jihadist worldview, but their actions are overwhelmingly beneficial to our enemies.. and the sad thing is they know it and don’t care.
If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.
Would you prefer instead the label “Useful Idiot?”
I always answer it this way.. I don’t like the Cleveland Browns coach. Terrible play calls, terrible management. That doesn’t mean I don’t support the Cleveland Browns or love the Browns. I’m a life long fan. The coach is just awful.
No one has a problem with that, but for several years if you even questioned Oil Man and Proven liar GW Bush, then you DIDN’T SUPPORT THE TROOPS AND WERE A TRAITOR.
It was idiotic reasoning then and now.
Well I dont support some of the policies either. And I see nothin wrong with that. I voted for Bush I support removing Saddam but I am disappointed with how the war has handled after that and im very disappointed in the administration regarding immigration and some other things.
I think you are a bit deluded about Iraq though but considering all the propaganda it happens.
From small minds come small ideas, my friend.
Maybe its because the terrorists intend to win, and winning to them means the destruction of the USA (even more seriously than libs are currently trying to do).
Because politics has become BS. In order to make your argument appear weak/rude/inconsiderate/immoral, etc, you become labeled as an extreme. No one really listens to each other when it comes to politics people take it personally.
I believe that you can support the troops but don’t have to support the war or the administrations policies.
When people make the remark that “if you don’t support the war, that means you support terrorism” It makes me think that they should pull their head out of the sand and realize that the govt is not always acting on the public’s best interest. Maybe, just maybe they are protecting their own person interests.
**note to Drake**
Glad you made it home safely. : )
The Administration has to push a hated war that it lied and underestimated to us so they try and silence the critics as much as possible. I can think of nothing that supports them more than wanting them not to be in harm’s way in a bad detour in the “War on Terror”. If W and Cheney really wanted to fight Al-Qaida we would have strategically entered areas where they train and wiped them out rather than creating a chaotic battleground for them to grow in. The last 4 years have done nothing but increase the amount of Terrorism.
I do support terrorism. It is a great agent for change.
Feel what you want. Its their jobs. They might not like to fight in the war, but they have to [as you know] signed the contract = its not your choice.
I hate my job, but i have to do it. but we all love America. [hopefully.]
Semper Fi
I dont belive that those who dont support the war are terrorists.
If you are really a Marine you should be ashamed. The time to oppose this war was before we were in it. A vote was taken in both houses of congress and the authorization was given. Read that as America authorized the war.
ONCE WE HAVE TROOPS IN HARMS WAY IT IS TIME TO PUT ALL OF OUR SUPPORT BEHIND THEM UNTIL THE WAR IS WON!
Failure is not an option once blood has been spilled. (I am really surprised that I have to explain this to a Marine of all people.) To oppose the war now will only give comfort to the enemy and destroy the morale of our troops.
.REPLY
I don’t know what you really saw but if you are truly a Marine you are a disgrace for making the job harder for your fellow Marines. You and Murtha are the most disgusting excuses for Marines I have ever seen.
Unfortunately its our foreign policies that caused 9/11.
weve killed our fare share of people just in more covert ways
