July 28th, 2009:
14 men received two Medals of Honor awards for separate actions (each of them performing two individual acts of heroism). Two were Marines:
Daniel Joseph Daly (China, 1900), (Haiti, 1915)
Smedley Darlington Butler (Mexico, 1914), (Haiti, 1915)
For the record, the other 12 double Medal of Honor winners were from the Army (4) and Navy (8).
The 1918 medalists in the first answer above were awarded one each from the Army and the Navy for one heroic action (the Marines, in those days, being considered both Army & Navy). They are not counted as double medalists.

Richard is the only one that is correct, as a former Marine, they drill this kind of “knowledge” into our brain. Dan Daly and Smedley Butler were the only two Marines to have won two Medals of Honor. I have no idea about any other service.

Don’t believe anyone ever got two of them. Here’s a good link that lists all the recipients for the US Marineshttp://www.medalofhonor.com/recipients/m…

Nineteen men received a second award: 14 of these received two separate Medals for two separate actions, and five received both the Navy and the Army Medals of Honor for the same action. Since the beginning of World War II, 852 Medals of Honor have been awarded, 526 posthumously. In total, 616 had their Medals presented posthumously.[29] The last award was on February 26, 2007.[2]
