You decide. You have to qualify. If you qualify….then you are in.
The Recruiter decides weither to send you up. The decision to allow you to join is the people at MEPS. The doc who looks at your heatlh info is a big on in the decision making process.
The recruiter is responsible for determining your eligibility. If that individual decides you and the Corps are a good match, pack your bag.
The recruiter can’t personally decide if they want to allow you to join or not. They don’t have that kind of power. There are guidelines set and qualifications that must be met in order for you to be accepted. See the link below for military recruiting standards.http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningth…
When you talk to a recruiter for the first time they will ask you if you had any law violations, asthma, or drug usage, and if you have graduated high school. They will determine if you they believe that you are eligible, or if they believe that they can get you a waiver for what ever issue you may have. If you are good to go with no waivers, or they get any waivers you need approved. Then once they do that and fill out a bunch of paper work they will send you to MEPS(military enlistment processing station), They have many of these around the U.S he will send you to the one closest to you. When you get to MEPS you will go through a physical examination. Once you have finished it you will sit down with a doctor who will look through your file and tell you if you are eligible… this is all contingent on the results of your urine test, drug test, and background check so if he says yes but one of those things comes back with a problem you can’t enlist. after you do that you will pick a job, or submit a list of jobs you want. then sit with someone who will ask you if you told the truth on all of your papers… once you go through that you will swear in. So your recruiter doesn’t decide… he just decides whether or not he thinks you will pass the physical examination and the background check or what waivers you might need.
