Hi Tim,
I see that your dad died in 1992. When he died, the funeral home handling his final arrangements would have run a report from the military to verify his military service, order his military headstone, and arrange an honor guard from the local Veteran’s organization. If you contact the funeral home, they can give you a copy of the report. I’m not sure it will be as complete as “which carrier”, but it very well may be. But more importantly, it gives you his serial number. With that you can request his full military service record from the National Archives Military Service unit in St. Louis Mo.
