I am engaged to LCPL Wynn of the USMC. He was just deployed to Iraq in January. I am planning a wedding and starting to collect things for our appartment. Our 1st apartment will be off-base @ camp pendleton, CALI. I need some major help. I need to figure out how much our housing allowance will be, along with USMC regs. on moving our stuff up there (we currently reside in dallas tx). Any help and anything extra you think I need to know as a new wife of a marine will be GREATLY APPRECIATED! thanks so much!

First thing, just want to make sure you are planning on moving all your things from tx to california after your marriage because, now, only he is entitled to having any financial help with a move. Also, google Camp Pendleton’s website because it has base specific information and housing info, pay grade scale for E-3’s, base living allowance and food allowance for married Marines and their dependents, etc. that you need. Plus, you can access most Marine Corps regs through the website. I don’t have time now to write more, but if you have more specific questions feel free to email. to the corps, you are nothing until you are married….a piece of advise…..don’t get married right away when he gets home or when he comes home on leave….these boys have major problems to work through and it takes a few months till they are starting to be themselves. so don’t rush it and help him thru the first four to six months or more……that’s what being a strong marine wife is all about.
