Korean interpreters/translators? I know Army is for sure.
Reason why I’m asking this is because of the new program that’s about to start in Jan. of 2009. It’s called MILITARY ACCESSIONS VITAL TO NATIONAL INTEREST (MAVNI) RECRUITMENT PILOT. Recruiting Non-citizens and “green-card” holders that are nurses, doctors, linguists.
“The linguists are to be used in a broad range of military jobs — as infantrymen, seamen and military police. Those with the best language skills would be used in intelligence fields.”
I can speak Korean fluently.
I’ve always known that US Army works closer with Korea than Marines. Which means I have less chance of being used in USMC?
That is not true, many Marines are stationed at the North/South Korea Demilitarized Zone.
The USMC is always looking for enlistees who are fluent in a different language.
I think your best bet would be to go to your local Marine Corp. recruiting station and ask the recruiter if he knows anything about it and if he could make some phone calls to find out. If you express your eagerness to work with them they will probably try to help you out as much as they can.
