My fiancee was a Marine Corp Raider and served overseas in 2002 and he had a Marine Corp Raider ring, but misplaced it somewhere, I would love to get him a replacement one for a wedding gift but am unable to find one. I am also looking for an original WWII KA-BAR not a replica, I really want to give him something special and I know he would truely love either of these. If anyone could help I would greatfully appreciate it. I know my chances of finding either of these is going to be hard but it is worth the search.
ebay and good luck…
Raider Ring is going to cost you!
You can purchase new replicas of the K-Bar, but to buy an original, well be prepared to pay a lot. I have one (handed down by my father) but would never part with it.
Here is a web site for Marine Gearhttp://www.grunt.com/
As to a response here stating that Marine Raiders no longer exist, I must poin out this fact.
MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (June 20, 2003) — Marines have always been known as the few and the proud. But on Friday, the Marine Corps took its first steps toward assembling a group of warriors even fewer and prouder as part of the U.S. Special Operations Command.
Operating under the name Detachment One, this elite 86-man unit “if it passes muster” will be in a league of its own alongside the Navy Seals, Army Green Berets and Rangers, and the Air Force’s Special Operation Command.
The commando unit, housed at the Camp Del Mar Boat Basin, will consist of a headquarters, reconnaissance, intelligence and fire-support elements organized, trained and equipped to carry out special reconnaissance, direct-action, limited foreign internal defense and coalition support missions, much like their sister special operations forces. Although the missions are similar throughout the armed forces, Detachment One will take advantage of Marine-specific strengths in task organization, small-unit leadership and the application of combined arms, officials said.
But ultimately, the need for a smaller, more permanent special force in the spirit of the World War II Raiders gave birth to Detachment One.
The Raiders were banded together to seize key hills and beaches in guerrilla-style strikes against Japanese forces. Disbanded two years after they were created, the Raiders wrote an important page in the history of what are now known as Special Operations forces.
Hope this helps

Quality Ka-Bar Knives For Less.

try a gun show next time one comes to your area……….they have lots of old military stuff
You can still buy a Ka-Bar, manufactured by the original company to the original specs, with brown leather sheath w/ Marine Corps emblem. There are many sources. An authentic WWII Ka-Bar will be hard to find and will cost $$$$$. (If possible to authenticate, possibly hundreds).
For the ring, see what Jostens has. I got my Marine Corps Aviation ring from them about 20 years ago. Got it through the MCX.
Try http://www.grunt.com for the knife. It is but one source.
i have an Iraqi-freedom KA-BAR its amazing!
Try googling it or going to ebay. Also try talking to other Marines that you know and see if they could help you.
How old is your fiance? The Marine Corps Raiders only existed for a few years during World War II and were disbanded. Your fiance was not a Raider, he’s just full of it. My guess is he was an admin clerk.
You’re joking right? I don’t know what I’m talking about? How dare you? Join the military yourself and acquire a first-hand knowledge of the subject before you correct me. I got out of the Marine Corps last May. I am well aware of the Marine Corps Raiders and have read several books on the subject. What you are ignorantly referring to is Det I. I worked at I MEF, their parent unit, when they were still in the process of being created. Det I is the Marine Corps’ contribution to Special Forces. They are nothing like the Raiders other than the concept that they are supposed to be “an elite within and elite.” That concept didn’t work for the Marine Corps the first time around therefore they were disbanded. Disbanded means they are no longer “performing” as you put it, they do not exist outside of history. Det I was created because the higher ups in the Corps didn’t like how we weren’t involved in the initial phases of Afghanistan, so to prevent that in the future, we finally had to contribute to Special Forces Command. Face it you moron, your husband just wants to sound tougher than he is. If you haven’t noticed yet, that is one of my biggest pet peeves. I don’t have to list my accomplishments for credibility, I know where I’ve been and what I’ve done and that is enough. I can’t stand for little punks who never leave the wire to exaggerate what they done. He should just be proud to be a Marine … and probably enroll his wife in a couple of history courses.
