Hi,
A year ago when i was 16, I have decided to join the USMC, i have seen these people worked in times of peace and war and these guys give me a reason or something to fight for, not just becasue they have cool guns and equipments but the decisions they make to safeguard the lives of other people especially what they are doing in Iraq right now and i know being an officer i am entitiled to make decisions that could save more lives and avoid collateral damages, and that’s the reason why i like to be an officer in the corps… Is there chances that i could be an officer? i am a filipino, i was born here in RP, and i am planning to go to US after i graduated from my nursing school here…
Tanx, God bless..
I think what you want to do is great. The men and women who put their lives on the line to protect their country are the most amazing people in the world. I’m sorry to tell you but you have to be a U.S citizen to join their armed forces. If you have a family member in the States or have an employer who would sponsor you, you would be able to join when your paperwork was complete. This takes several years but if your heart was set on it you could get the college degree you need to qualify for officer status in the meantime. Good luck and I hope this helps
Chinese passport holder bcan have a credible employment in Metro Manila.
if you become an american citizen, i believe so. My friend was born in mexico, is now an american citizen, and a marine… i don’t see why there would be any difference with you.
You have to be a US citizen to be an officer. You can be either a US citizen or Green Card holder to be enlisted. The US Navy used to take a small number of Filipino citizens as enlisted but that ended in 1992 when the Philippines expelled the Americans and our bases.
you cannot be an Officer unless you are a US citizen and have a 4 yeard dgree that is recognized by the US.
and you cannot enlist unless you are a legal permanent Resident with a Green card.
no longer can PI Nationals enlist directly from their homeland.
Yes , if you chose to excel ,you can reach your Goal.
You could become an officer in any branch of the service if you are capable and qualified. Being a Pinoy might make it a little more difficult but that just means you have to work harder. About coming to the U.S. after nursing school. Isn’t some level of experience required beyond schooling? I lived in Cebu for 3 years and was a Marine – not an officer – long before that.
Yes you can become an officer in the USMC. You must finish a four year college degree and apply for officer candidate school or while in college see a recruiter and sign up for their officer training course. You will do boot camp between second and third year of college and then do an officer leadership course between third and fourth year. Upon graduation you will be commissioned and expected to serve for a minimum of 6 years.
Yes. They will take you. You are free to go and die in a pointless war. Enjoy.
when the afro american citizen has difficulty in becoming an officer, your chances are slim if any at all………………………
You can be an officer in the USMC if you are a citizen or naturalized citizen.
Edit: Those that are saying “no” are just plain wrong. Here’s a article from the Marine Corps Times about a naturalized citizen in the officer training program:http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/class186…
Edit: There’s a (somewhat) interesting book on being a lithuanian immigrant and marine by LtCol Dominik George Nargele USMC (Ret):http://www.amazon.com/Immigrant-Marine-D…
they are desperate right now, and will take anyone, the peoples resistance in Irak is wasting us soldiers at a fast pace. i personally would not join a military that came to your country ( Philippines ) and commited occupation, genocide, massacers, and kept it in perpetual poverty. This is how the us military treated your country in the past, check it out.
