It usually takes about on average a week to get mail over there. However, please keep in mind that your friend is probably out in the field working, and is not on base to receive his mail. Or he may have changed bases, and haven’t been able to relay that to you? Or he’s probably just very busy. When I was there, it took me days just to finish one letter to send back home. Try emailing him, or have him create an email address. Emails are a lot quicker and more efficient. Sometimes I know i was gone for 4 – 5 weeks at a time. Sometimes as long as a month and a half to two months. So please don’t panic. I’m sure he’s alright.
Try calling his command again and asking for the correct address and base, just in case he did change.
If you need anything else, just email me.
It often takes my letters 2-3 weeks to get there, and his letters take 3-5 weeks to reach me. It depends on where he is exactly too. The closer to Baghdad, the longer it takes, for obvious reasons.
Please realize that he is most likely VERY busy and he is probably not injured, just not able to write. Don’t panic. Often times the missions are extensive, and he may be on the go for more than two weeks per mission.
Okay first off don’t panic! He might just be really busy over there.
It usually takes about one and a half weeks for letters and 2 weeks for packages. Calm down.
I know how it feels my “boyfriend” is over there and I get antsy all the time too. Feel free to email me if you have anymore questions.
I agree with the above answers with one exception -
Unless he has given his command specific written permission to talk to you about him, you will get nothing from them.
depends on the time of year. now would be a very slow time. you might not even have the right addy. or better yet…………………he might be really busy trying to stay alive. hes busy just give it some time or try to contact his family to make sure he hasnt moved on to another unit or another state in iraq and make sure of the addy. thats one of the biggest reasons why military dont get their mail and why alot of people dont hear from them.
