Theres a kid from town here in the Army. His family said hes stationed in Iraq but they havent heard from him since last Thanksgiving when he was home for 3 days. How do i go about finding where exactly he is at and all his information. Ive never been in the military so i dont know what to ask. I want to adopt him but i dont know where to send a care package so that he will receive it . Also does anyone know where i can find a list of items the soldiers really need? Thanks!
I get most of my contact info from anysoldier.com for care packages. Most of the contacts will list what their unit is asking for. Another site is asoldierswish.com to get lists of what is needed and wanted.
Remember that it is very hot in Iraq right now, so chocolate doesn’t do well in the summer. You can not send porn, pork, anything with alcohol or aerosol cans.
I have noticed that the units I send to are asking for Kool-Aid singles, sun screen, foot powder, Pop-Tarts, DVD’s & CD’s, AA & AAA batteries, and flashlights. Basically anything that makes like a little more comfortable for them.
Contact his unit where he was stationed before Iraq, they should be able to give you an addy to send care packages.
Soldiers like receiving anything from home. Food items like cookies, candy bars, pop tarts, and even toiletries are welcome. pictures of home, letters, anything that shows your support will help. you may laugh, but send tp and baby wipes. when my husband was in the field and deployed, they never had enough tp.
His family ought to have his address. Can you ask them for it? I wouldn’t contact his previous chain of command where he was last stationed like the previous poster suggested. They’re not going to know where he’s at; he’s not their responsibility since he isn’t attached to them anymore. Besides, even if they DID have his info. it’s doubtful they’d willing hand that information to someone they don’t know without his permission. Best bet would be to talk to his family and tell them you’d like to start sending packages.
