I read that today around 95% of people who take USMC basic training end up passing it.
But I also read that prior to the Vietnam War,the chances of passing the USMC was much lower. In fact I read that around prior to the Vietnam War less than half of the people who take USMC basic training end up passing and becoming marines.
Iam very curious, why is the rate of recruits passing the USMC basic training around 95% today while the chances of a person passing USMC training prior to the Vietnam War was less than half?
Basic training became easier in all U.S. service branches after the Vietnam War. Nixon wanted to build a large volunteer military and had to make military service more attractive to America’s young people.
